Retire early and hit the road: how one couple did it

Most of us have to wait till we’re well into middle-age before we can transition from occasional RVers to fulltimers. But here’s a couple who retired in their late 30s for a life on the road. How did they manage it? They tell their story on their website. For a link, click here.

Manage your mail with this efficient service

Many fulltimers use a mail-forwarding program. Some services, of course, are better than others. Here’s one with some features that will benefit both you and the environment. Click here.

Take a safety trip from your fellow truckers

RVers and truckers both operate large, heavy vehicles. That means that in many cases a practice appropriate for a trucker is also appropriate for an RVer. Do you follow this common trucker’s practice? You’ll be safer if you do. Click here.

Do you have enough time as a fulltimer?

Time. How come we never seem to have enough of it? Weekend RVers looking forward to fulltiming assume they’ll have a lot more time once they switch to a life on the road, but many of us find the days are just as full as when we worked 40 hours a week. In this post, RV romance blogger Bess McBride muses on time in her fulltiming travels. See if you share her impressions. Click here.

Latest RV recalls

Each month we list the latest recalls of RVs at RVtravel.com. Here are the most recent ones:AprilMarchFebruaryJanuary DecemberNovemberOctoberSeptember

Extended RV Travel

Extended RV travelers are those who spend weeks and even months traveling and living in their RV. Unlike weekend and vacation RVers, though, the extended RV traveler cannot just put their lives on hold while they are away from home, and then play catch-up when they return. Life goes on while they are on the road. Arrangements must be made to secure their home, receive their mail, pay their bills, and keep in touch with their friends and families. Extended RV travelers may also need to deal with obtaining medical care and getting their prescriptions refilled while thousands of miles from home. Learn more or order

Pollutant closes popular boondocking area in California

Fulltimers who are boondocking in California should check to make sure they’re not in the 48-square-mile area the Bureau of Land Management just shut down because of a serious pollution problem. Details.

Selecting a home state for full-timers

Being a full-timer since 2003, and hanging around the MS Gulf Coast, I have yet to decide WHICH STATE is the best one to declare as “HOME” as I continue to live in a motorhome! I would love to read comments from other retired full-timers as to where and why they chose their state for home base.

A question for the snowbirds

Have you ever gone to or called an RV park to get reservations or to stay there and they had no spaces available? Did that irritate you? Were you bothered by it? The reason for the question was from trying to find a park to winter in last year and a lot of them were full. And it was irritating and kinda upset me that one cannot find places to stay.

RV lifestyle and visiting relatives

I hope this issue isn’t too off the wall. Do any of you have to deal with relatives you visit who don’t want you to stay in your RV and think it’s silly? This is a touchy subject in my family!

Everything in this newsletter is true to the best of our knowledge. But we occasionally get something wrong. We’re just human! So don’t go spending $10,000 on something we said was good just because we said so, or fixing something like we suggested (check with your own technician first). Maybe we made a mistake. So be sure to check things out. At RVbookstore.com we strive for excellence in all we do and that’s the honest truth (as opposed to the dishonest truth). Our customers receive really, really fast service. We move so fast in sending out a customer’s order that sometimes we pass through the sound barrier, which really upsets our neighbors.
