How do boondockers do it? Here’s how

If you’re new to boondocking and like the idea of camping for free without hookups for a long period, you might be wondering how boondockers handle the logistics. In other words, how do they resupply their rig with fresh water when the tank runs dry, and how do they get rid of the accumulated waste water? What about power? Veteran fulltimer and blogger Jim Twamley answers these questions by introducing you to a couple of boondockers.

Retirement

What the heck does retirement mean anyway? I said when I was a young worker that social security would not be there when I get there. Well I’ll be 62 in September. Check for yourself. How does it look? I’m sure there are many ways to have income and I know it will hurt my feelings when I have to work for less than I’m worth or used to. Ha. There is a way. I haven’t found it yet but I’m gonna find it. Have you ever been fooled into thinking you could make it on less than you really can?

Ferry to Alaska

Has anyone out there taken the ferry from California, Washington or Oregon to Alaska? Any information you might provide would be greatly appreciated. (I’m planning on working up there next summer and living in my 30′ trailer if I can get it there!)

New to RVing with a few questions

I am planning to full-time. I am recently divorced and will probably be by myself. This has always been a desire of mine to travel the US and Canada for a couple years seeing the sights. I have been to a few dealerships and found the K-Z Escalade Sportster toyhauler to be to my liking. I realize it will probably cost in the neighborhood of 80-85k. I will be hauling it with an F-350 dually diesel. They rate the towing weight as 24k and the trailer lists their weights at 21k, so I believe I am safe. Is this correct? Have I chosen wisely or should I keep looking? My last question is how much money is enough? When I retire I should have approximately 4 to 5k a month to spend. Will that be enough?
